National Special Education Day marks the anniversary of the nation’s first federal special education law, signed by President Gerald Ford on December 2, 1975. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) made public education available to all children across the nation and ensured special education and related services were provided for children with disabilities. December 2nd is dedicated to recognizing and honoring the unique abilities and talents of students with special needs. It is crucial that, as a culture, we recognize the contributions and perspectives that these individuals bring to our classrooms and communities.
To celebrate this important day, take the opportunity to recognize the efforts of the Shiloh CUSD#1 Special Education Teachers who support these students, encourage progress, and help them realize their full potential.

It is holiday time and that means the Shiloh #1 Student Council and Shiloh FFA Chapter-Illinois are working on our food basket project. We will be collecting food and donations from December 1-11. This year we will be helping 50 families in our school district!
We gather food such as canned vegetables, canned fruit, cereal, macaroni, peanut butter, soup, canned chicken and instant potatoes. We also buy ham, potatoes and extra non-perishable items for each family with donation money. We could not do this service project without the support from our school and the community.
Thank you Mike Pine and Milk Specialties Global for donating $1,000 to Student Council for our food baskets. Mike also helps with driving a route for our busses occasionally.
This donation will buy the hams that will be provided for families in our community. Thank you Mike for your generous donation!!

Partnership in Parenting gathered for their November group to celebrate reading and Thanksgiving. The theme was "Turkey Tales and Tails," so they read a rhyming tale, "Five Silly Turkeys" by Salina Yoon. Then, they made turkey tails by using markers to color coffee filters and attaching them to clothes pins. Families worked together to add eyes, beaks and wattles for the turkeys' faces.
For snack, the children used their small muscle skills to smash graham crackers into crumbs and smoosh pudding and pumpkin together to make Pumpkin Pie in a Bag.
Each child chose a turkey book to take home, and one lucky family won a real turkey to gobble up on Thanksgiving Day! Several PIP-Squeaks and their families were home sick, so they were sent healthy wishes for quick recoveries.
The 2023-2024 season kicked off last night with the Turkey Tourney - let’s show our pride by wearing a different color each night. Tonight is ORANGE and Wednesday will be BLUE! Come out and support the New Tri-County Titans as we face the Martinsville Bluestreaks!
The junior high played music bingo as a surprise celebration for everyone who had As, Bs, and Cs.

There will be a JH Volleyball interest meeting on Friday, November 17th, at 11:30 in Miss Moses' room. Girls in 5th-8th grade should attend if interested in playing volleyball this year.
Our junior high kids watched the Fighting Illini women's basketball team beat the Peacocks 103-33. We were part of the 4th largest crowd in program history with 11,567 people in attendance.

Tonight is Family Reading Night! PIP-5th grade families are invited to join us for a night of food, activities, and special book fair hours!

Don't forget to join us tonight from 5 to 7:30 for Family Reading Night! The Book Fair will be open from 5:00 to 7:30. Activities and food begin at 5:30 and last until 7:00. This year the theme is Glow Party, so wear white or brightly colored shirts so you glow!!! We can't wait to see all of our Elementary families there! PIP members are invited to attend as well.

The Scholastic Book Fair is this week! It runs from November 13 through November 17. It will also be open from 5:00-7:30 pm this Wednesday for Family Reading Night.

The following changes will be made to the Hume/Metcalf Bus Route today:
Wednesday, November 8th: Bus #16 students will remain at school after the 2:05 dismissal until 2:45 when Bus #5 will pick them up and begin the route.
If you wish to pick your student up at 2:05 dismissal, please call the office before 1:00 today.
