If interested and unable to attend this meeting contact Coach Smothers.

Partnership in Parenting met for their May group connection to bring together all their art work and pictures from the year into "My PIP Journal." The children were weighed and measured again to see how much they had grown since last summer. There was a lot of cutting and gluing going on to decorate the journals. Some of us enjoyed drawing with the markers more than others!
The PIP-Squeaks made handprint poems for their moms in honor of Mother's Day, too. We also read " I Love You as Big as the World," a mommy book by David Van Buren. The soft illustrations by Tim Warnes prompted many comments and lots of pointing.
The children took home their life-sized drawings and a new book, while the moms picked out colorful petunias. Next month we will meet at the Newman Regional Library on June 21 at 9:30 AM to kick off the summer reading program. The theme this year is "Find Your Voice," and the focus will be kindness.

When you hear the term speech-language pathologist (SLP), you might think of professionals who help kids with speech difficulties. And that’s not wrong. SLPs work on challenges like stuttering or trouble pronouncing word sounds. But SLPs also work on challenges that are related to language. That includes problems with communication and reading (understood.org).
Thanks, Mrs. Honemann, for making a difference in so many lives!

Can you believe we're already at the final "Shiloh Shout Out" for this school year? We're wrapping things up with our final guest for the year, Cylee Wakefield!

There is still an opportunity for students currently in grades 8-11 to sign up for summer math tutoring. Shiloh is going to pilot an in-person tutoring program this summer that
will focus on math skill acquisition. Students who attend 80% of the tutoring sessions will not only get to go on a field trip to Indianapolis but will receive their own, free graphing calculator.
If interested in tutoring, please return completed form (https://5il.co/1rzap) by Wednesday, May 24. Contact the school if you have any questions.

Students in Mrs. Milam's English 2 and 7th Grade English classes recently celebrated Black History by reading a story about Harriet Tubman. We learned about the Underground Railroad and signal quilts, which were used to alert slaves about how they would make their journey to freedom. Students created a quilt square depicting a secret signal. Interesting observation-- the boys enjoyed the stitch work much more than the girls!

Opening: Parent Educator/Home Visitor
Partnership in Parenting (PIP) is a free and voluntary program that offers services to families and their children beginning prenatally through three years old. Home visitors support families in their parenting journeys through fun activities that help caregivers better understand child development and encourage interactions with their children, support family well-being, and promote school readiness.

The "Shiloh Shout Out!" for the last full week of our school year features junior Emily Milburn.

This afternoon, elementary students got to have snow cones on the playground for improvements to their MAP test scores. It was a great time and we apologize ahead of time for blue and green mouths!
