Mrs. Donnals's 5th grade class has something to celebrate: they won the Lexia Trophy for being the Lexia Units Leader Class of the Week! They worked so hard, and we are so proud of them!

The Elementary Winter Concert is Wednesday, December 21 at 1:00 pm.

The Shiloh Jr. Beta Club hosted a Christmas Dance this past Saturday. The price of admission was a pair of new socks. Pictured are Jr. Beta officers Taylor Williams and Ali Cash presenting the basket of socks to school nurse, Kara Bosch. These socks will be used throughout the school year for students that need them.
Thank you to all the students that attended the dance and donated. Everyone had a great time!

The kindergarteners let the good times roll at the bowling alley today!




Mrs. Evans's 8th grade science classes created gingerbread houses out of cardboard and completed circuits to make light up holiday cards.

There is one update to the events listed on this week's Shout Out: the junior high reward trip originally planned for December 19 has been postponed until January due to a schedule change with the skating rink.

The internet outage this week caused our sport camera to be knocked offline, but it's back on and ready for you to cheer on our teams from near or far!

Shiloh parents, this is a reminder that Monday, December 19th, Tuesday, December 20th, and Wednesday, December 21st are ALL early 2:05 dismissals. Winter Break begins on Thursday, December 22nd.
Seniors:
A representative from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) will be here on January 18 to meet with seniors one-on-one and help them complete their FAFSAs.
If requested, the representative will be available that evening to meet with parents. Such meetings need to be scheduled ahead of time by contacting Mrs. Pierce at piercem@shiloh1.org or calling 217-531-1850 ext. 1020.

Reminder: Today, Thursday, December 15th, is an early 2:05 dismissal. Please make arrangements for early pick-ups and bus drop offs.
Student Council and FFA want to thank you for helping us with 2022 food baskets. This afternoon we delivered to 50 families and helped 175 people. We put bags out in the community and collected items at school. By the time everything is done we will have logged approximately 750 hours on this project. We appreciate everyone and couldn't do this without you!


2022 Miss Edgar County Fair Queen, Caroline Smith, is hosting a blood drive Monday, December 19th in the parish hall by St. Michaels Catholic Church in Hume. She would love for you to join her and others by donating blood and giving back to the community this holiday season! All donors get a $20 gift card of their choosing.

The high school and junior high winter concert is Wednesday, December 14 at 7:00 pm.

The Spanish Club has been busy! In November they took a trip to Sol Del Mar in Tuscola. On Saturday, December 10th, they went to Chicago.
Students visited the International Christmas Trees exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry; ate an authentic TAPAS dinner at Ba Ba Reeba Café in Lincoln Park; went shopping at Water Tower Place on Michigan Avenue; and toured the million Christmas lights displays at the Lincoln Park Zoo.

Tutoring begins today for students in 3rd-8th grade. Students are scheduled to attend 2-3 days a week; some will begin Monday, and some will begin on Tuesday. Tutoring will end for this semester on Thursday, December 15.
Tutoring for high school is tentatively scheduled to begin on January 9, 2023.

St. Nicholas came today in kindergarten.




Kaylin Williams has been recognized as an Illinois State Scholar for her outstanding scholastic performance. State Scholars are selected annually based on standardized test scores combined with sixth semester class rank.
These exceptional students rank in approximately the top ten percent of graduates from Illinois high schools.


The board of education is a unit of local government that establishes direction, goals, and priorities for a school district and determines policy, budget, leadership, and administration.
There are 4 seats that will be open on the board. Community members interested in running for one of these seats can pick up a packet at the Edgar County Courthouse.
Packets are must be turned in between December 12th-19th. You will need 50 signatures from residents of our district to turn in with your complete board packet.
