Mrs. Brinkley's 4th grade class was the Lexia Units Leader Class of the Week. They were the first recipients of the Lexia Traveling Trophy with an average of 33 units.
Each week, students in grades 1-5 compete to get the highest average units on Lexia Core 5, an adaptive literacy support program that helps students make the shift from learning to read to reading to learn. The winning class gets to display the trophy in their classroom for the week.

Shiloh is pleased to present Mr. Myers, our new superintendent!
“I graduated from Effingham High School, and my parents still live in the Effingham/Teutopolis area. After graduating from SIUC with my undergraduate degree, I taught 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade English at Ste. Genevieve Middle School for 5 years while also coaching football, basketball and track. I then worked for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for a year as a curriculum facilitator. I finished my Master's and Specialist in Educational Administration from Southeast Missouri State University and then became an Assistant Principal at Jackson Junior High School for 4 years. From there, I took a principal position at Moulton Middle School in Shelbyville for 2 years, was the principal at Effingham Junior High School for 5 years, and then was the principal at Beardstown Jr./Sr. High School for the past 5 years. My family moved to Newman this summer, and we LOVE our new district.”

Our next staff introduction is our new 5th grade teacher. Please welcome Mrs. Donnals!
"Hello all! My name is Mrs. Donnals! I graduated from the University Of Illinois in 2020 with a degree in Agronomy. I worked in the agriculture field for a short time, then realized my heart was in Elementary Education. I went back to school and received my degree in Elementary Education at the University of West Florida. While I was obtaining my degree, I was a full time substitute teacher. This is my first year teaching, and I’m so excited to grow and learn with my students!
I’m getting married in one month and have been very busy planning a wedding! My fiancé just graduated from Police Academy and is now a cop! We live in Tuscola with our cat named Max and golden retriever named Wrigley.
In my free time I love baking, shopping, and being an aunt! I’m so excited to have the opportunity to teach at Shiloh for my first year! "

Today's JH Baseball game against Arthur Christian has been canceled. There is no practice.

Next we'd like to introduce you to one of our 3rd grade teachers from 2020-21, Miss Smothers. Now she's 2nd grade teacher Mrs. Climaco:
"I attended Arcola Schools for K-12 and then got my bachelors and masters in political science from Eastern Illinois University. I went to St Mary of the Woods for my elementary teaching certification.
This is my first year in second, but I taught 3rd at Shiloh during the 2020-2021 school year. I got married this past year, and my husband is a nurse. We have one dog named Wrigley and live in Arcola.
I love reading, crafting, and trying new foods. I’m looking forward to sharing new experiences with my students. I also look forward to learning just as much, if not more, from them!"

Time to introduce another teacher that is familiar to many at Shiloh: Miss Lauren!
"I graduated from Shiloh in 2014 and then attended Parkland College for two years where I continued not only my academic but my athletic career playing basketball. After Parkland I transferred to Millikin University in Decatur where I continued playing basketball. I graduated with my BS in Early Childhood graduation and a certificate for special education as well as English as a Second Language certificate. I have been teaching for 4 years. I have a golden retriever, Oakley, who I love dearly. Teaching is my passion and I am so happy to be returning to Shiloh and look forward to what this school year has to bring."
