POWER TO THE POLLINATORS!

PIP hosted a Moms Mingle Wednesday evening at the Newman Community Center with Master Naturalists Kendra Saddoris and Julie Sherer presenting about how different plants are pollinated and how to attract pollinators into your landscape. After the program and refreshments, the moms went outside and filled their empty pots with flowers and colorful foliage while they chatted about the joys and challenges of motherhood and keeping plants alive. Wanting to volunteer, members of the Shiloh FCCLA Ella Bennett, Tayler Hepburn, and Maggie Milburn fed the children and babysat during the event. Everyone enjoyed the food, relaxing with other moms, and taking home a beautiful planter to put on their patio. In addition, PIP is thankful to Harvest Ridge Wind Farm for their support in donating the supplies.

From Mrs. Mixson:
Today was a blast! Shiloh’s eighth grade class did us proud in the state capital. HUGE shout out to my partner in crime, Mr. Allen, for planning and executing the trip. We visited the Capitol building (which included the Illinois fallen police and firefighter memorials and a really cool mosaic), a quaint bookstore/shopping block, the Abraham Lincoln Museum, the old Capitol building, the military memorials at Oak Ridge Cemetery, and Abraham Lincoln’s tomb.
