✨ Mrs. Climaco’s third-grade class wrapped up Matilda by Roald Dahl this week, and what better way to celebrate than with the movie (and snacks, of course)! 🎉🍿

Their treats were inspired by the story itself:
🍿 Popcorn for movie fun
🍫 Smarties for our brilliant Matilda
🦎 Gummy lizards for Ms. Trunchbull’s glass
🍰 Chocolate cupcakes for Bruce Bogtrotter’s cake
📚 Rice Krispies treats for Matilda’s beloved books

Such a sweet ending to a classic read! 💛📖

Mrs. Elizabeth's PreK class has been learning about where our food comes from. They learned that farmers plant a lot of our food we eat! They went on an adventure to the nearby field to see the corn that is growing.

Shiloh fourth graders recently enjoyed a full day of hands-on learning! They visited the Edgar County Historical Society for a "Walk Through History," exploring a log cabin and a Victorian home while discovering what life was like for pioneers. In the afternoon, the class stopped by Brinkley's Market for a special greenhouse lab to wrap up their plant study.

GRANDPARENTS ARE SO MUCH FUN!

To celebrate Grandparents Day, PIP hosted a Group Connection on September 17th in the PIP Room at the Newman Community Building focusing on cognitive development. Eleven children brought their 5 moms, 9 grandmas, 2 grandpas, and 2 aunts to join them in singing about how happy grandparents make them, listening to a fall book being read, creating seasonal art with apple stamps, digging in apple- and lemon-scented sensory bins, and, of course, playing with all the toys. Everyone loved spending the morning catching-up with their friends, making new memories and selecting a book about grandparents to take home.

📸 School Picture Day is October 1, 2025!
All students will have their picture taken. Parents may order online using Picture Day ID EVTQSMXDK or return orders in the envelope provided.

In years past, Lifetouch has provided us with an envelope to send in "late" orders, or money that was lost in the backpack and not found until after the photographers were already gone. I was informed today that they will no longer be doing that, so I wanted to put out a little PSA to make sure we check backpacks and folders thoroughly so all money sent can make it to the stage. Of course if it does happen, the family can still order from the proof sheet they will receive, they just won't get a picture package in the first go round.

Tackle for a Cure!

Mark Smith recently shared a letter of gratitude to the Shiloh School District and past board members who supported him throughout his career, and we are honored to share his words with you here. A retired educator known for innovation and for showcasing student success, Mark made a lasting impact at Shiloh High School where he helped secure $1 million in program support. His work has led to numerous student internships, job offers, and national recognition. Mark has received honors such as the Education is the Key award, the Golden Apple award, and the 2024 Woodworking Industry Association’s National Educator of the Year Wooden Globe. Today, he serves on several national boards, consults on CNC technology and workforce development, and continues to bridge education and industry through his role as Brand Ambassador at Microvellum. His letter follows, and there will be links to two articles from his time here in the Shiloh Facebook comments.

"I have wanted to send the Shiloh Board Members/Administrators a thank you email for a while now. I know that many of you were not there when I was, but board members and administrators are not told thank you enough. Shiloh High School was the beginning of a very fulfilling career as a technology teacher. Click on the link to see my program website www.rchsit.weebly.com at Reed-Custer High School where I just retired from. My internal tag line for my teaching career was, “helping young people find their way”.

I owe my career to the Shiloh board members and administrators that let me do something out of the ordinary. I can’t over emphasize this statement. I taught at a school up north that would not support my program they way you did. So, I quit and moved to Reed-Custer High School where they did support me the way you did. I learned what support should look like at Shiloh High School.

In closing, no one is an island. I am standing on the shoulders many leaders, mentors, supporters, and great students! I owe you so much. If there is every anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask."
