Mrs. Milburn's 3rd grade class visited Homer Lake Forest Preserve. The students spent time in the Interpretive Center bird watching, looking at turtles, and learning about animals native to this area. The students then went on a guided nature hike through the forest preserve. Students learned about types of trees, plants, and animal tracks. A picnic lunch finished up the field trip. They had a great spring day.

Partnership in Parenting held their April group connection at the Shiloh Library in honor of National School Library Month. Miss Penny, Shiloh Librarian, hosted the families with a reading of Worm Weather by Jean Taft, a delightful story with a few simple words on each page. The children then enjoyed the song, "Herman the Worm", and found out what happens if you eat 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 too many things - BURP! The activities of making wiggly worms out of yarn & pasta and digging for colorful worms in the "dirt" sensory bin saw lots of action. The PIP-Squeaks also explored live worms, but there were mixed reactions about these squirming creatures!
