Veterans Day Ceremony
The Golden Apple Foundation is now recruiting for the Golden Apple Accelerators program! One of the primary objectives of the Accelerators program is to return teachers to their communities where they can make the greatest impact. The Golden Apple Accelerators Program provides a path to teaching for career-changers and college seniors who commit to living and teaching in targeted school districts in Illinois for four years after obtaining their teaching license. One of the many benefits of becoming a Golden Apple Accelerator is having the opportunity to earn a teaching license in 15 months. Obtaining a teaching license in 15 months through an Accelerator Program enables aspiring educators to enter the classroom quickly, providing an expedited pathway to a fulfilling career in teaching, while also meeting the growing demand for excellent teachers. The application deadline for participants is on January 10, 2024.

As you may have seen in our previous post, the Haunted Prairie has been canceled due to the weather forecast. We would like to take this opportunity to give a huge shout-out to Mrs. Saddoris for organizing the Haunted Prairie for so many years. It is a huge undertaking and she does an amazing job every time. We are sad that her last Haunted Prairie was not able to happen, but we thank her for all of the years of memories and scares! Hopefully, we will find some new hosts but there will be big shoes to fill. Thank you Mrs. Saddoris!!!

Parents of elementary (PreK-5th) students, Please note, unfortunately, we do not allow Halloween costumes to be worn at school. Instead, we would encourage students to wear a Fall or Halloween themed, or just an orange shirt if they would like to celebrate the day. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Partnership in Parenting took a field trip to the Shiloh Prairie for their October group connection. They had a beautiful day with bright blue skies to explore the many plants and bugs. The children had paper bags and duct tape bracelets to collect the treasures they found along the paths. They also used magnifying glasses to explore details up close. Our tour guide, Mrs. Saddoris, encouraged everyone to use all their senses to learn about the prairie. Along the way, they smelled mint, felt square stems and fuzzy seeds, watched ladybugs and grasshoppers, and listened to the wind in the trees. They also discovered the recent presence of a coyote, but there was no sniffing the partly digested apples in the "scat". The PIP-Squeaks enjoyed repeating the new word they learned, though! After the tour, Miss Julie offered beautiful gourds from the patch, and each child chose a fall book and a pumpkin to take home. Before leaving, the families gave a big shoutout to Mrs. Saddoris for making this fabulous annual opportunity available to them!
