On Friday, the IESA rescinded its recent decision to cancel Fall sports. JH Softball, JH Baseball and JH Cross Country will be played and practices will be starting next week. All teams will be following Phase 4 Covid guidlines set down by the Tri-County Co-op requiring forms, temperature checks and PPE. Athletes must have their physicals completed and submitted to the student office before they can participate. Please contact the student office or email knofskyr@shiloh1.org or barrya@shiloh1.org with your student's name and intent to play.

The summer crew invited Richard (Woody) Wood to visit and celebrate his 80th Birthday! Woody retired from the former Illinois Cereal Mill March 2003 and started working for Shiloh in April. He helped with summer cleaning, sub-janitor, drove students, and took care of almost every evening/weekend event for 17 years. This summer he is retiring from Shiloh, but will still be on the Hume Fire Dept. Heck, he started cleaning the old Hume Grade School when he was 7 years old. His day was custodian there and after morning paper route, Woody went to school to clean boards, and help get the fire going to heat the school. Everyone will miss his smile an kind words at the ballgames, but we all know he will be still be busy working at home!

Shiloh's phone system currently does not auto-answer. It works but has to be manually answered until the replacement part arrives. For now its set to ring directly to the Unit Office. We hope to be back to normal auto-answering by early next week.

Our world has certainly changed over the past few weeks. Since the yearbook is a record of a school year, we would be remiss if our current situation was not included in that record. Please take a moment to share your and your children’s thoughts to be part of this year’s publication (no political comments please). First, what are some of the changes (big and little) that have impacted your daily lives? Second, what are some of the “silver linings” that you have noticed during this “shelter-in-place”? Next, what do you miss? And finally, what “life lessons” have you learned? Please feel free to respond to one or all of these. You can respond here, through my Mrs. Saddoris Facebook page or my email (saddorisk@shiloh1.org). Thank you so much and have a great summer!
