Meet Me at the Gym! PIP hosted a Group Connection on Wednesday, March 19, in the gym at the Newman Community Center, featuring special guest Shiloh Principal Amy Jones. As a speech and language pathologist, Ms. Jones spoke with parents and grandparents about how young children develop language skills and the importance of reading. During the presentation, little ones exercised their muscles by running, tumbling, building and playing alongside their friends. Everyone enjoyed the morning spent visiting with other families, and each child went home with a new book.

Due to the predicted severe weather this afternoon, Tri-County and Shiloh extra-curricular practices and events will be canceled this evening, including Esports, HS baseball, JH, and HS track, play practice, and softball. The district is planning to dismiss all students and staff at 2 pm. If the storm arrives during dismissal, we will keep students safe in the building and not on buses. If this is necessary, more information will be provided. If no further information is provided, please plan for a 2 pm dismissal and no afternoon/evening events.

Today Mrs. Climaco and her third grade class continued their March Madness tradition! They learned about the history, the brackets, who’s included in the tournament, how seeds are determined, and what odds and upsets are. They finished their lesson by making their own bracket. They’ll follow along through the tournament and check their guesses. Fun fact - the odds of predicting all 63 NCAA Tournament games correctly are approximately 1 in 9,223,372,036,854,775,808, or 1 in 9.2 quintillion. Maybe third grade will have a perfect bracket this year!

5th Grade learned about who set the first clock in Science this week. We learned why the clock is divided into 12 hours and how you can use the sun's position to determine the time. We made shadow clocks and tested them out on this windy afternoon. The students were amazed how well they worked!
