Shiloh Families, We will have an E Learning day tomorrow, Friday, February 16th. We are grateful for the communication from the water department. They have informed us that the water will be off and on tomorrow. We feel it is in the best interest of our students and staff to take an E Learning day again tomorrow. Any student in 6th-12th grade that needs to come to the school for their Chromebook or charger may do so today until 2:00. Please come to one of the front doors and ring the bell. The volleyball game scheduled for tonight will continue as planned. Please note there will be no water! Hand sanitation will be provided and drinks available for purchase in the concession area. In spite of the inconvenience, we wish our team luck and congratulate our 8th graders and parents and wish them a wonderful 8th grade night.

Shiloh Families, We were contacted at 1:30 and told that there is a large water leak in the area. To fix the leak, the water will be shut off this evening. We do not know when the water will come back on, but when it does, we will have a boil order which will affect our food service, bathrooms, and drinking fountains. We will have an E-Learning Day tomorrow, February 15th due to the uncertainty. JH and HS students will have to work on their Google Classrooms. Elementary students will be sent home with a little bit of work to do. Student Council Field Trip will continue as planned. Thank you for your understanding!

Dear Families: The Strengthening Career & Technical Education Skills for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) provides financial assistance to the State of Illinois in support of Career & Technical Education opportunities. Your local high school offers programs in Career & Technical Education. These classes can help to prepare your student for a career while also teaching them important life skills. CTE course descriptions are available in the registration materials for your student’s high school. It is the responsibility of the school district, with the assistance of Eastern Illinois Education for Employment System #340, to inform parents and students of the Career & Technical Education (CTE) courses available as the student prepares to register for the ninth grade. If you would like further information regarding Career and Technical Education courses offered at your local high school, please contact the school counselor. Sincerely, Laura Sullivan, Director Eastern Illinois Education for Employment System

Partnership in Parenting families gathered for their January group connection in the Newman Community Center gym. With the cold temperatures and snow to start off the new year, playing in the gym was a great way to beat cabin fever and spend time with friends. The children practiced their motor skills using blocks, balls & baskets, and hoops & horses. They buzzed around with ride-on toys, worked on hand-eye coordination with the parachute, and "flew" on the butterfly to use up excess energy. Before heading back out into the cold, the PIP-Squeaks chose a snack and winter book to take home. They also picked out new mittens and hats.

School counselors are highly educated, professionally certified individuals who help students succeed in school and plan their career. An integral part of the total education system, school counselors help students form healthy goals, mindsets and behaviors. With the aid of a school counselor, students learn to develop effective collaboration and cooperation skills, to practice perseverance, to develop time management and study skills, and to learn self-motivation and self-direction habits.  Thank you, Mrs. Megan Evans, for your guidance of Shiloh students toward continued education and career planning!
